“Our Hearts Carry the Light”
The morning ritual and sessions invited participants to share in groups the purpose of our being at the 7th Assembly and to share our anxieties/expectations for the evolving newness for International Presentation Association (IPA). The group touched on what we are passionate about and what was burning in our hearts as a result of preparation for the Assembly.
The keynote address was presented by Presentation Sister Shalini Mulackal, a feminist theologian in the Vidya Jyoti Theologate at Delhi, India. In her first input, Shalini invited us to reflect on “Where and how do I hear the sound of God” with reference to Genesis 3:9. She invited us to share on the local and global issues that disturb us. “Are we really as disturbed as Nano was when she returned to Ireland after her comfortable and enjoyable life in Paris?”
“Where have you been” was the question put to us by Shalini, based on the angel’s question to Hagar in Genesis 16:7-8. We were invited to share what thread in our story, in our life, link with the values of Nano Nagle – compassion, spirit of hospitality, simplicity, trust in Divine providence, love for the poor, presence.
We were left with the challenge to be compassionate and act for justice for those issues that disturb us as they did Nano.
